Hello Families,
Last week our students had an amazing time at Balboa Park. We visited the Museum of Man where the students were able to see exhibits about ancient Maya, Egypt, and early man. We also visited The Japaneses Friendship Garden to provide inspiration for our own backyard project. Thank you again to all the parents that drove and chaperoned the trip.
The students began making their exact model drawings last week, and also started a supply list of things they will need to accomplish their building. This week we will continue this work, adding in the next step which is to locate the resources we will need.
Last week students also gave presentations about vermicomposting. They taught each other about landfills, recycling, decomposers, and worm biology. It was so great to see them present their learning.
This week we will continue to implement our geometry learning with our backyard project, but will also be moving into some new concepts, learning about prime numbers, composite numbers, factors, multiples, and perfect squares. We will end the week with an open-ended math challenge problem that even most adults struggle to answers!
